One Exit. Above 25 Metres. Deemed-to-Satisfy?

Cutaway isometric of the uppermost storey: one sole-occupancy unit occupies the whole floor, the lifts open into a private lobby within the unit, and a single exit door leads to the stair.

Can a Class 2 building over 25 m effective height have a storey served by only one exit? A DC Partnership design study on how D2D2 and D2D3 of NCC 2022 interact when the entire storey is one sole-occupancy unit.

Adaptable housing in NSW: one standard, 128 interpretations

Grid of 128 tiles, one per NSW council, coloured by the share of new dwellings that must be adaptable: 28 councils at 20% to 100%, 33 at 10% to 15%, 4 at 1% to 5%, 2 using Livable Housing levels instead, and 61 with no requirement identified.

Our audit of every NSW council found that AS4299 Adaptable Housing is applied inconsistently across the state. The result adds cost and complexity to housing delivery while doing little for the people adaptable housing is meant to serve.
