The $58 million Heffron Centre in Heffron Park, Maroubra, is a premier multipurpose sporting and community facility delivered by Randwick City Council in collaboration with CO-OP Studio and the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The centre brings together two indoor sports halls, an expanded gymnastics centre, a high-performance training and administration base for the Rabbitohs, and community amenities including a café, hall of fame, merchandise shop, and fan viewing areas. Designed to serve grassroots participants through to elite athletes, the facility strengthens local capacity for health, inclusion, and sporting excellence.
DC Partnership provided BCA and Accessibility services. Our BCA compliance strategy focused on managing the facility’s multiple uses, particularly the provision of sanitary facilities. We developed an approach that ensured occupant needs were met without oversupplying amenities, avoiding inefficiencies in floor space planning. From an accessibility perspective, our team worked to integrate the building within the wider precinct, ensuring equitable access points and connections, and guiding the implementation of wayfinding signage across both the facility and surrounding public areas.
