The Governors Centre is a shared education and performance facility for Sydney Boys and Sydney Girls High Schools. Designed for flexibility, the building accommodates multiple uses — including classrooms, school exhibitions, and large entertainment events — within a single, highly functional space. The facility supports both academic and cultural programs while fostering collaboration between the two neighbouring schools.
DC Partnership acted as the BCA and Accessibility and Inclusive Design consultants. Our role was pivotal in managing the complex compliance requirements of a dual-school facility with varied operational modes. We developed clear strategies to address large occupant loads, egress coordination, and performance-based spatial design while ensuring the building remained adaptable to its multiple functions. Our accessibility and inclusive design approach ensured equitable and dignified access across all public, teaching, and performance spaces.
The result is a safe, inclusive, and compliant facility that unites learning and performance through thoughtful design and code expertise.
