The Sarah is a boutique mixed-use development in the heart of Darlinghurst, combining a hotel and café on a site defined by its extremely narrow footprint and dense inner-city context. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design and precise compliance strategies can unlock complex sites for high-quality development.
DC Partnership acted as the BCA and Accessibility and Inclusive Design consultants. The constrained site demanded a sharp and highly detailed approach, with spatial considerations driving innovative solutions. Our strategies included the dual use of egress routes as both exits and accessways, a stairway wrapping around the lift core, and the integration of automated door controls to maximise efficiency and maintain accessibility.
This careful balance of compliance and practicality enabled the delivery of a safe, inclusive, and elegant development within one of Sydney’s tightest urban settings.
