The Workhouse is a commercial redevelopment in Sydney’s Chinatown, delivered through alterations and additions that adapt the building for contemporary use. Designed by TYA and built by Alessi Design + Build, it sits on a tight inner-city site where every square metre had to work hard.
DC Partnership provided Building Code Consultancy and Accessibility & Inclusive Design. Spatial constraints shaped the approach to circulation and bathroom layouts, and DCP drew on international standards and guidelines to support efficient bathroom design and a usable rooftop, while meeting Australian requirements.
