The Western Sydney University Science Building provides state-of-the-art laboratories, teaching spaces, and research facilities to support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the region. The facility combines specialist labs with flexible learning environments, designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and research excellence.
DC Partnership acted as the Fire Safety Engineers, BCA, and Accessibility and Inclusive Design consultants. Our fire safety strategy addressed the complexity of integrating advanced laboratory spaces with general teaching areas, ensuring safe egress and robust compartmentation. The accessibility and inclusive design team developed strategies to deliver dignified and equitable access across all levels and specialist teaching environments, aligning with the needs of both students and researchers. The BCA team played a central role in coordinating compliance from concept through completion, ensuring the design and delivery met legislative requirements while supporting the university’s vision for a world-class STEM hub.
The result is a safe, inclusive, and compliant building that advances Western Sydney University’s mission to grow research and STEM education for the next generation.
